John Wall

I am 68 years old and live with “Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism” I was diagnosed in May 2019.

Currently, I am a member of the “Maidstone and Medway Bluebells group” joining in January 2020. This is a working group. Our aim is to raise the awareness of dementia, reduce stigma and to help shape the future of our communities. Most recently I attended a Cognitive Stimulation Therapy session to raise awareness of the group and giving my “living with Dementia” presentation.

I am also a “Cascader” for Rare Dementia Support at UCL. On their behalf I talk to various groups about My Living Experience with LBD. These have been Care Home managers, 1st year medical students and I ‘ve represented them at a Dementia; Ask the Experts event.

Monthly I attend an online peer support group with others living with LBD; twice monthly I also attend an in-person peer group of people living with other types of Dementia.

I support those living with LBD and PDD (Parkinson’s Disease Dementia) through the charity “Lewy Buddies UK” connecting them by phone and locally in person in a safe environment to engage with one another.

Regularly I visit local Dementia Cafes and singing groups.
